Energy Issues
Energy issues affect our lives, economy, national security, and environment.

From the energy we need to power our homes, appliances, and vehicles to the energy we need to keep us warm during the winter and cool during the summer, access to reliable, affordable energy is fundamental to our quality of life. And without access to reliable, affordable energy, our businesses and industries cannot produce the goods and services that form the backbone of the largest and strongest economy on the planet.

The energy sources we develop and use during the next few decades, as well as how much energy we use, will largely determine whether our nation is able to address critical problems like global warming, climate change, and energy security. America is blessed to have a wide variety of sources of energy – from oil, natural gas, and coal reserves to abundant sources of renewable power, including wind, solar, biomass, geothermal, and hydro power. But America also imports vast quantities of energy sources – primarily oil and natural gas – from other countries. And the price of oil in particular is set on the world market and rises and falls due to world events far beyond our control, impacting our economy and national security.

As our nation grapples with these and other energy-related concerns, Citizens Energy is tracking numerous studies, commentaries, and analyses of a variety of energy issues and subjects. To help inform public discussions about energy issues, Citizens Energy will collect and post reports and other analyses that may be of interest in the following areas:
