State Lifeline Assistance Program
Funded from the New Jersey General Fund, the state Lifeline Assistance Program assists those receiving medical assistance to the aged, medical assistance only, or New Jersey Care. Participants in those programs are sent Lifeline applications automatically every August. Supplemental Security Income recipients receive Lifeline assistance automatically.

State Universal Service Fund
The USF funds a fixed credit percentage of an income payment plan. Participants are required to pay no more than six percent of their annual income toward electric and gas bills.

State Fresh Start Program
The program allows these enrollees a chance to have past due bills forgiven if they start paying their monthly bills in full and do so for an entire year.

New Jersey SHARES
A statewide, year-round independent energy fund for individuals and families living in New Jersey who are in need of temporary help in paying their energy bills.

New Jersey Gift of Warmth
This program provides natural gas cost assistance to low-income customers and those in temporary financial distress. This program is administered by the United Way through local Community Action Programs.

Funded by utility companies, this program provides energy efficiency products and installation help.

New Jersey Citizen Action Oil Group
A project of New Jersey Citizen Action, which provides consumers with an alternative to high cost heating fuel. The Oil Group uses group purchasing power to negotiate discount prices for members. Most members save 10-30% on their heating oil.
